Employee Training

Hazardous Waste Training

State Department of Toxic Substances Control (DTSC) requires employees who generate hazardous waste must be trained in proper management of waste under their control.  There are two levels of training under Hazardous Waste regulations

One level of waste training is tailored for employees who generate hazardous waste. This training familiarizes employees with and consists of training on properly managing specific waste streams including waste accumulation times, safe handling practices, and emergency response procedures. This involves both classroom instruction and on-the-job training.

The second level of training is intended for employees working in hazardous waste operations (HAZWOPER Training) and consists of either 24 hr or 40 hr training classes, and meets Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards for content. An eight-hour refresher course is also available for HAZWOPER employees who must attend annual update training under as defined by the rules. This course can be developed for individual companies as well as for a diverse group of employees.
